How to read inch fractions
The longest ticks are whole inches. The next longest is the 1/2 inch, then 1/4, then 1/8, and the shortest ticks are 1/16 inch. Count the short ticks past the last whole inch and simplify: 6 sixteenths is 3/8″, 12 sixteenths is 3/4″. Or just tap and we'll show the fraction for you.

Getting a full 12 inch ruler
A 12 inch (30.48 cm) ruler needs a screen at least that wide: most 15.6″ laptops and any desktop monitor. Press F for full screen to get the maximum length. On a phone, measure along the long edge and turn on the Left or Right edge ruler.
